Grand Haven and Spring Lake Schools closed today. Over 200 schools closed along the lakeshore in West Michigan due to the winter blast that came onto the lakeshore over night.
The freezing rain and snow combined with gusts of wind up to 40 miles an hour, has sent thousands of school age children back to bed this morning. The conditions are not expected to subside before noon.
The Michigan State Police are recommending everyone to stay off the roads today. Because of the gusts of wind the road commision will not be salting the roads so roads are extremely slippery. The north south roads are being hit the hardest.
