Home for Sale in Spring Lake, Michigan

One Month Update to Selling a Home in Spring Lake, Michigan

It has been one month since my kids put there home for sale in Spring Lake Michigan along the lakeshore. Greenridge Realty Inc. has been very busy trying to market their home. Real estate activity has been pretty non-existent this past month, but mostly that has to do with the major weather that we have been having.

Having a home for sale in Spring Lake, Michigan is more marketable during the spring and summer along the lakeshore than it is in the dead of winter. Greenridge Realty Inc. did try to bring in a prospect last week but the party had to cancel due to work conflicts. It is just a real hard time of year to buy or sell a home. This is probably the slowest time for real estate right now.

It is definitely a buyers market right now with the mortgage rates being so low. With this home being priced so low according to the medium priced home in this area, I have no doubt that it will move quickly. My guess it will not get an offer before May or June.

A home for sale in Spring Lake, Michigan is almost a sure sale. Real estate goes pretty quickly in this area along the lakeshore. This is one of the best areas to raise a family and work. Spring Lake Public Schools are in the top ten in the state and the community is one of the safest. There are no complaints with Greenridge Realty Inc. so far.

Keep Fire Hydrants Clear of Snow

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Fire hydrants are getting buried with snow. This is a dangerous and serious situation. Keeping fire hydrants cleared of snow is of every-ones concern. This is not only happening in the Grand Haven and Spring Lake areas but through out Michigan.

With the over abundance of snow it is hard to get to the fire hydrants by the fire department. Any delay that the fire department has in getting access to a fire hydrant could mean the difference between life and death. It could also mean the difference between a total loss in a fire and a small contained fire.

The hydrant snow removal should not only be left to the homeowner whose property it sits on but to the whole community that uses that hydrant. Many homes are left vacant during this winter, either due to the homeowner leaving for the winter or the houses are standing empty.

Keeping the fire hydrants open benefits everyone. You would not want time wasted digging out a fire hydrant if you were the homeowner in need of quick response by your local fire department. Or perhaps a car fire was occurring and the fir department would lose a lot of time to get access to the water.

The city areas have fire hydrants for our benefit. Tanker trucks caring water is a much slower process and not as adequate. Plus homeowners do get an insurance break from having an accessible fire hydrant near their home.

So please while you are digging out of the snow, check to see that the fire hydrant closes to your residence is cleared of snow.

SubZero Temperatures to Continue Through the Night

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

It has been a bitter cold day with blowing snow and subzero temperatures along the lakeshore today. The weather for tomorrow looks to be a little better but not much. Grand Haven and Spring Lake have had many church service cancellations today due to the below zero wind chills.

I96 was closed for a while this afternoon from east of Muskegon to Grand Rapids, due to a 50 car pile up near Coopersville due to white out conditions.  The accident stranded about 400 cars while they waited for the mess to be cleared. The roads are bad so take it easy in the morning.

There is also a flood advisory still in effect along the Grand River

Wind chills are expected at -25 through the night tonight and will increase to -10 to 0 degrees in the morning.

Watch here for school closings in the morning due to the weather.
